What to Do If Your Warmer Stops Working

21 July 2013 By LA 28 Comments

If your Scentsy candle warmer stops working don’t worry it’s generally an easy fix.

scentsy black warmerOn occasion electrical appliances stop working. Scentsy Fragrance electric candle warmers are no exception. Fortunately it’s rare, but not unheard of.  There are a couple of things to check.

If your Scentsy warmer stops working all together:

  1. Change the lightbulb
  2. Check to ensure the light bulb is securely screwed in
  3. Make sure the plug didn’t come loose from the wall
  4. Try a different outlet
  5. Hit the reset button on your outlet if it’s a GFI

Those may seem like a BGO (Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious) but you’d be amazed how many times it’s one of those five issues above that has caused warmers to stop working.

If your warmer still works but doesn’t melt all the wax:

  1. Check the light bulb. Most importantly ensure it’s the right wattage. Scentsy wall unit, plug-in candle warmers use a 15 watt bulb. The midsize and three piece warmers such as the older Hokey Pokey or Cupcake warmers use a 20 watt bulb. Our standard, full size uses a 25 watt bulb.   You can get replacement bulbs from your consultant or many home repair stores and superstores carry them. It is very important you replace it with the correct wattage. This is the most common reason warmers stop melting the wax fully.   You need to get the bulbs with the small candelabra base.
  2. Make sure you don’t have too much wax in there. Generally one or two cubes are plenty. One Scentsy candle bar contains eight cubes.
  3. Look for drafts. Drafts from windows, fans, vents or air returns can greatly affect the way your warmer melts the wax.   Move it to a different location if you suspect drafts may be the problem. This is another common reason why wax doesn’t melt the way it used to.

If You Have the Kind of Scentsy Warmer Without a Light Bulb

If you have a warmer that doesn’t use a light bulb to warmer the wax, that is called an Element warmer. It uses a hot plate style. If your element warmer stops working, there are no parts that can be replaced on that one. Instead it will fall under our lifetime warranty. Use the information below to help you with the warranty issue:

***If you’ve done the self-diagnostics above and you’re still having troubles contact the Scentsy consultant who sold the warmer. If that person is no longer with Scentsy you can contact our customer service at 877-855-0617.***

Scentsy’s Lifetime Replacement Warranty

Scentsy products come with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty for manufacturer’s defects. A customer who has a product that is damaged in shipping from Scentsy, has a manufacturer’s defect, or has an indication of an electrical issue may return it, with no limitation in time, for repair or replacement through their Consultant or directly through Scentsy Family by calling Consultant Support and following the Returned Merchandise procedure.

Hopefully you will have years and years of enjoyment and great aromas from your Scentsy candle warmers. I am on my eleventh year of using Scentsy and have never had a warmer stop melting the wax or stop working all together.   As I said, it’s rare. But if it happens, now you know what to do.

This may be a stupid question. I have the lovebird warmer which is not working. I can’t see a bulb only a heating element. Does this need to be replaced? Thanks lauren

Hi Lauren, Not a stupid question. Our new element warmers do not have a light bulb, which is why you can’t see one. If it is not heating up at all and you’ve tried different outlets it sounds like it would fall under the lifetime warranty. Your original consultant can exchange it for you. If you don’t know who that is or don’t have the receipt you can try our Customer Service at 877-855-0617. They may be able to help you cross reference the original purchase.

Hi Jodie, I assume you’re referring to a US or Canadian warmer with a light bulb? Did you try a new bulb or ensure it’s tightly screwed in? If so, it sounds like it may be covered under our lifetime warranty. The original consultant can help you exchange it. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I don’t have a question pertaining to the post. I just really adore the scentsy warmer that is pictured within this topic and wanted to know what is was called / where I could potentially buy it.

Hi Jasmine. That is a retired Scentsy Cherry Blossom warmer. It’s no longer available for sale. We now have the Cherry Tree https://la.scentsy.us/Buy/ProductDetails/27934

We sell the bulbs https://la.scentsy.us/Buy/Category/3095 and you can also get them at most local home improvement stores. Just make sure you replace it with the correct wattage. Our smaller nightlights use a 15 watt, and most standard tabletop warmers use a 25 watt bulb. Some of the midsize or 3-piece warmers use a 20 watt bulb. The bottom of the warmer will also read 20W or 25W.

How do you change a light bulb in the warmers that plug in the wall?

In the Scentsy mini plug-in wall warmers you just twist the ceramic or glass top off of the electrical base, then replace it with a 15 watt bulb.

I have 2 plug-in Scentsy Warmers that I cannot get to come on. 15 watt bulbs are getting harder to come by. I have an LED C7 bulb, can I try that or is there another substitute? I cannot tell if my base is not working or my bulb is no good. I would so love to be able to use both of these plug-ins!

      Hi Diana,

It’s vital that you use only 15 watt bulbs in the plug-in miniwarmers. We sell them https://la.scentsy.us/shop/c/3860/bulbs-and-accessories and you can also find them at most home improvement stores such as Lowes, Home Depot, True Value, Ace. I’ve also seen them at Meijer, Target and Walmart.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. I have three Scentsy burners in my house and my mum has recently bought me wax melts for it, however, these are not scentsy ones. They are a scent I love and my mum saw them, and thought she should get me them as the scent isn’t available from scentsy. Although, I can’t smell the melt at all.. it was a very strong smell in the bag. I don’t understand why this is. I thought they would work for any wax melt , but maybe not? Could you advise please.

    Thanks

      Hi Tania,

Scentsy candle bars are the strongest scented available; because of the proprietary blend of wax we use we’re able to put more fragrance oil in them. Many customers have confirmed that non-Scentsy brands aren’t nearly as strongly scented as ours. You can get 6 Scentsy candle bars for the price of 5 with this special bundle and save link: https://la.scentsy.us/product/build?sku=MP-6PK You can mix and match your favorite scents.

I have a warmer that I have had for years, the switch went out on it and I was told if it was a scentsy warmer I could have it replaced. My issue is I am not 100% sure it is a scentsy warm since it has been years since I bought it. I do not see any name on it except a S on the back of it. Can you help me to determine this.

Does the “S” look like this? It sounds like it may be a scensationals warmer, sold at Walmart, Meijer, etc. not Scentsy. If you want to send me a photo I can let you know if it’s a Scentsy warmer or not.

Oh no! I hope puppy is okay. Unfortunately we do not sell just wiring. You may be able to find a local electrician who can rewire it. You can find our current warmers at http://www.IncomeWax.com.

Hi I’m living in Ireland and have a Scentsy electric wax warmer but the base isn’t heating up properly and the button just popped off, is there any way I can get it replaced? The only problem is my warmer is a discontinued item and I love it so much that I would hate to lose it. Thanks in advance

      Hi Emma,

I’m sorry to hear that. If it’s discontinued, they *may* still have a replacement available. Otherwise you could select a warmer of similar value. You can reach Scentsy in Ireland at support.ie@scentsy.com or 1800-947-165
