Scentsy scents may surprise you when warmed.
We all have our favorite candle scents. We tend to stick with similar scents that we know are safe bets such as spice, bakery, cologne, fruit, floral, etc. If you’re like me, it’s difficult to break into a new category if you already know you tend to like a particular category.
I am one who enjoys scents like Hendrix (men’s cologne) or Oats and Honey (reminds me of oatmeal cookies), so when I come across one that is more clean or floral I’m not generally a fan. However, I will readily admit that I have been guilty of not giving scents a chance. If I didn’t care for the smell of a particular candle bar at room temperature, it generally just sat on the shelf.
I’ll even go as far to admit that at times I have said to myself, “Well no one will buy this one, so I guess I’ll stick it in the warmer and save the good ones for the paying customers.” That was stinkin’ thinkin’! That self serving gesture proved to be a catalyst to change my opinions about some scents. When I warmed them, I actually liked them, and not just a little bit to tolerate them, but actually found a new scent that I really liked to scent my home.
I’ve heard similar comments from my team members. In March 2012, Scentsy’s featured Scent of the Month is a scent called Sunlit Morning. A few consultants admitted it was not their cup of tea; but I reminded them that I’m sure it would be for their customers and encouraged them to give the scent a chance and warm it. Not surprisingly they did, and their minds were also changed when they smelled it warm vs. room temperature.
It’s no different than trying on clothes in a store. Stacey and Clinton, from the television show What Not to Wear, are constantly telling their makeover guests that they have to try on the outfits. They can’t make a fair evaluation of how it will look on them just from how it looks on the hanger.
The same in true for Scentsy wax. Don’t immediately discount it as something you don’t like simply because it’s different from what you normally like to try. Give scents a try here. You may be pleasantly surprised to learn a great Scentsy scent is just waiting to be warmed.
