It is true that as a direct sales consultant, if you can get home party bookings, that is still the very best way to get a large amount of sales in one location in a short amount of time. It’s also true that in 2013 because of changing times, busy schedules and technology finding hosts who want to invite family and friends to their home is more difficult. More difficult doesn’t mean impossible.
Overcoming objections often begins with offering a solution to the potential host before she makes the objection. Some of the most common reasons people give for not wanting to host a home party include: “I don’t want to clean my house; my pet would be in the way; and I don’t have enough space.”
Those are all valid concerns. Fortunately you can suggest a solution to those challenges. Offer a Reverse Home Party. When talking to a potential host tell her that you’ll have the party at your house. You’ll do the cleaning, provide some chips and beverages and you have plenty of room for everyone. (An easy rule of thumb for refreshments is one sweet, one salty and something to drink. A bowl of pretzels, a bowl of m&ms and water or lemonade would fill that bill.) The host will still get all the benefits of hosting a party in her own home, without all the hassle.
It’s also win/win for the consultant in that you don’t have to lug your entire inventory and continually set up and tear down your display.
Give this approach a try to see if it doesn’t increase your bookings!
